🖍️ No One Is Too Old to Colour: How I Found Calm in the Lines
I returned to colouring during a particularly stressful time, when I was desperate to relax in my downtime. Honestly? I got back into it through colouring apps. Those small, quiet moments of focus helped me wind down and be more mindful.
But I’ve always loved physical colouring books. Eventually, I reached for my pencils again. There’s something special about choosing your own colours, layering different textures, and letting your hands move across the page. It slows everything down. With traditional materials, the process feels more immersive. More tactile. And the time it takes to finish a piece becomes part of the calm.
At first, I felt a little guilty — like I should be doing something “more productive.”
Like maybe I was being childish.
But I’ve been learning that taking care of my wellbeing is productive. Colouring gives me the headspace I need to give more of myself elsewhere. It’s a low-pressure way to be creative — no pressure to invent something from scratch, no need to perform. Just focus. One shape at a time.
In moments when my mind is tangled with thoughts, feelings, and endless to-dos, colouring helps me find stillness. I only have to think about that one picture. And that’s enough.
As someone who loves illustrating and mandalas, it felt natural to begin offering some of my uncoloured artwork as printable colouring pages. I design each bundle with care — combining gentle prompts, quotes, and nature-inspired elements to create something soothing and versatile.
No one is too old to colour. Whether you use collage, crayons, pens, pencils, or even your iPad — anything goes. That’s the beauty of it: you don’t need fancy tools or a big block of time. Just a soft space to create, wherever you are.
